10 Days Mara River Crossing Safari

The wildebeest migration river crossing beginning July to September, in this season the great wildebeest migration is in the northern Serengeti the area known as Kogatende along Mara River which is acting as the border between Serengeti and Maasai Mara Game reserve which located in Kenya.

The calendar of Migration is strictly depending on the rain season as the wildebeest attracted by the fresh growing grasses after rain which are best in nutritional value for them.

In this period the northern Serengeti is the only area which Wildebeest migration can be sported with distinctive feature of river crossing. That why we offer this treasure box.

DAY 1: ARRIVAL ARUSHA TANZANIA

Arrive in Tanzania at the Kilimanjaro International airport where you will meet and greet with Tanz-Africa Adventures guide. Then transfer to Arusha for dinner and overnight at Planet lodge.

DAY 2.TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast at the lodge, you will be picked up and drive to Tarangire National Park almost 2and half hours drive. Enjoy your full day game viewing in Tarangire. The Park is reputed to contain some of the largest herds of elephant in Africa and Ancient Baobab trees. Also there are other animals such us African Big Cats, Antelopes, (Eland, Buffalos, wildebeest, impala, grant Gazelles etc. ), Giraffes, Zebras, monkeys and many other animals

DAY 3: LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK

After your breakfast you will head north to Lake Manyara National Park. It’s about 1 hour drive from the exit of Tarangire. Lake Manyara National is at the foot of the Great Rift Valley. The park is named after the soda lake in The middle of the park. The park is famous for its tree Climbing lions, great bird life and the breading lessor flamingos. At the evening drive to the lodge. Dinner and Overnight at Farm house. All meals included.

DAY 4: NGORONGORO CRATER

After Breakfast it’s time for the famous Ngorongoro Crater. It’s about 10minuts drive from the lodge to the entrance of the Ngorongoro

Conservation area. From there enjoy the magnificent tropical forest on your way to Crater view point, where you will witness one of the beautiful landscape in the world.

The Ngorongoro Conservation Area boasts the finest blend of landscapes, wildlife, people and archaeological sites in Africa. Often called “the African Eden”. The Ngorongoro Crater, a World Heritage Site, is nestled in a range of extinct volcanoes which rise to heights of more than 3,500 meters (11,483 feet). It is the largest unflooded and unbroken caldera in the world – 19.2 km (12 miles) in diameter, 610 m (2,000feet) deep and 304 sq. km (117 sq. miles) in area.

Ngorongoro is a huge and deep volcanic Crater. There’s rich pasture, swamps, forest and permanent water on the Crater floor that’s why wildlife is so diverse and numerous. The crater floor is home to the largest population of mammals and you can spot the big 5 here on a relatively small area just stunning. Is the best opportunity to see black Rhino and many other rare species like the black-manned Lion. After game drive enjoy your picnic lunch at Ngoitoktok spring in the crater.

After lunch enjoy the rest of your time for game drive and late afternoon drive to the lodge;

DAY 5: SERENGETI CENTRAL (CENTAL SERONERA)

After an early breakfast, depart towards the most famous National park in the World, the Serengeti. On your way you will make a quick stop at the Ngorongoro crater view point. This will be an unforgettable moment for anyone seeing it for the first time. As you progress well into Serengeti, you will see why they named Serengeti in Maasai language, which means “the endless plain”. It is the home of the Great Migration of wildebeests, which stand as an icon of the park .This great Migration include millions of animals together such as Wildebeest, zebras and Gazelles. This gives the African big cat’s unlimited food that why we called the Home Of The African Big cats (Lion Leopard, cheetahs) it’s the good place to look out for large predators. More than 500 species of birds also inhabit this park.

DAY 6: FULL DAY OF GAME DRIVES IN THE SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast at the camp, enjoy your full day game drive.

The Serengeti, Tanzania’s second largest National Park, covers about 14,763 sq km (5,700 sq miles) of grassland plains, Savannah, kopjes, hills, woodlands, and River line forests. The Seronera which is the central Serengeti is the area for excellent wildlife viewing. Seronera is an area which has got water throughout the year; this makes area being very potential habitat for the animals. Its where you can see predators waiting for the animal to come for drinking and wallowing and this can make you a vivid experience of how predators kills and prepare their food.

DAY 7: SERENGETI NORTH (KOGATENDE)

After breakfast at the camp with packed lunch proceed with AM game viewing in Central Serengeti before departure to Northern Serengeti. Enjoy the deferent vegetation zone while game on route to Mara River. Evening arrival to the camp for dinner and overnight

DAY 8: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK (NORTH MARA)

After breakfast at the camp with packed lunch, drive for a full day game viewing in Kogatende. The main activity in this area is to wittiness the great wildebeest migration crossing Mara River, this is the unique attraction of wildlife movement remain in the world.

The thousands of wildebeest crossing either from Serengeti to Maasai Mara or Maasai Mara to Serengeti depend on the rain season, in this time crocodile waiting for easy prey to come so you can experience crocodile’s tackling against wildebeest in Mara river and many crocodile which are sunning for digestion after big meals. Enjoy your time to experience the unforgettable moment in your life time.

DAY 9: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK (NORTH MARA)

After breakfast at the camp with packed lunch, drive for a full day game viewing in Kogatende. In this long day you will have enough time to try again if you missed crossing last day; in this area also there are predators which are attracted by great migration for easy preys.

DAY 10: FLY FORM SERENGETI TO ARUSHA

After breakfast at the camp enjoy game on route to Kogatende airstrip for embarking your flight to Arusha. Upon arrival at Arusha airport, meet our driver and transfer to the Lodge or to Kilimanjaro International Airport for connect your international flight.

NOTE

This safari can be connected to Zanzibar Island tour, this beautifully Island along Indian Ocean reputed as very unique and attractive white sand beach in the world. After long safari you can swimming and relaxing while starching your back waiting for your flight back home.
